[Noel/Doel?] Pease from DEC worked on 545
Tape drive. Found pinch rollers were mildly
out of adjustment. Adjusted them. Found Read
Amps with random settings, adjusted
them to. 6 V P ~ P outout. Had
trouble with picking up random bits at
800 BPI. Adjusted the readers to
other random settings. Ran MAG TAPE
DATA TEST FOR ABOUT 20
MIN at 800 bpi with high slice levels.
No errors. At low slice levels the
tape pick up bits [~?] every 2 min.

Phil McKay and P. Petit moved Ampex Box 0
zone gate enable from RT290 to RT320; noise got
better on some bits, worse on others. Moved to
RT260; better (!!) on some, worse on others.
MYSTERY!! DMP
