Instinct, the House-Instinct, the Collecting-Instinct, the Play-Instinct, the Imitation-Instinct, the Conversation-Instinct, the War-Instinct, the Magic-Instinct, the Progeny-Instinct, the Morals-Instinct. These terms are to be understood in the following senses:

By the Food-Instinct is meant the desire for agreeable eating and drinking and all that conduces to digestion.

By the Health-Instinct is meant the desire to keep in good condition of body and mind, to be clean, and to get well when we are ill.

By the Clothes-Instinct is meant the desire for good clothes and ornaments and for personal adornment.

By the House-Instinct is meant the desire for a good home and fireside, and for architecture generally.

By the Collecting-Instinct is meant the desire to amass possessions. The love of order may be thrown in with this.

By the Play-Instinct is meant the delight in strong sensa-
