38th Canadian Inf. Battalion

BOURGEOIS Belgium 28
Muster Parade held at 8.30 hours. Battalion formed up on the Grand Place, and moved
from BOURGEOIS to HAVRES, for entrainment to LE HAVRE. Battalion marched in full marching
order, and followed the old tram-lines. Entrainment completed by 17.10 hours. Train
journey commenced at 18.00 hours. All ranks comfortably settled on the train, with plenty
of room. Y.M.C.A. Canteen Car, and Kitchen car, in centre of train.
Weather - cold and showery, with frequent rainstorms. RSC

En route for LE HAVRE 29
Train journey continued, with stops being made at different times to enable all ranks to
exercise and obtain hot tea. Stops were also made at ALBERT and AMIENS, for a few minutes.
Train reached LE HAVRE at about 23.30 hours, but Battalion was kept on train all
night.
Weather - Cool, and cloudy, with a few rainstorms. RAC

LE HAVRE 30 Battalion detrained at 7.30 hours, and marched to Canadian Embarkation Camp. (one mile)
The Battalion was quickly billeted, and ration tickets issued to all ranks. Part of the
Battalion put throgh baths and delousing plant, and medically inspected. A special party
of Nine Officers and one hundred and twenty-four other ranks were despatched to England
to take part in the Colonial March in London, on Saturday, May 3rd. Lieut.-Colonel
A.D. Cameron, MC, Officer Commanding this Unit, was in charge of our party. Other officers
in the party sent to England are ;-
