Battalion in front line area near MONCHY as per Operation Order No.42. Transport Lines
at Agny, but were moved to vicinity of WANCOURT in the late afternoon.
Twenty other ranks reinforcements joined Battalion. MAR.
Weather Fine.

2 Attack by Canadian Corps commenced. Transport Lines moved to new camp forward sourth of
GUEMAPPE and RIVER COJUAL. Dull weather. MAR.

3. Enemy active with shelling and bombing. Battalion in front line. Weather fair.
One other rank reinforcement joined Battalion. MAR.

4. Battalion in front line. Weather fair through day with showers in evening. One other
rank reinforement joined Battalion. MAR.

5. Battalion relieved and billetted S.E. of Transport Lines. Fine weather.
For account of fighting in previous days see Col. Edwards report on operations August 30th
to September 3rd.
One Officer and 38 other ranks reinforcements joined Battalion. MAR.

6. Battalion cleaning up. Heavy rain in forenoon. One officer and 1 O.R. Reinforcement
joined Battalion. MAR.

7. Battalion at pay parade. Weather fair. MAR.

8. As per Operation Order No.43 Battalion moved to WAILLY withheavy rain en route. Lunch
served on the march. Arrived in WAILLY about 2.30 P.M.
Lieut. T.H. Barnes appointed Intelligence Officer. Lieut. A.J. Ballinger appointed Battalion MAR.
Lewis Gun Officer. Three other ranks reinforcements joined Battalion.

9. Colonel S.D. Gardner, CMG, MC., new Commanding Officer taking over. Farewell dinner to Colonel C.M. Edwards, DSO., at 7.30 P.M. Weather wet. MAR.

10. Colonel C.M. Edwards, DSO., left early in the morning. Weather wet.
Lieut. P.H. Gardner, MC., to be Brigade Bombing Officer. MAR.

11. Battalion training. Wet weather. MAR.

12. Battalion training. Wet weather. Two Officer reinforcements joined Battalion. MAR.

13. Battalion training. Showery weather. Eight other ranks reinforcements joined Battalion. MAR.

14. Inspection of 12th Canadian Infantry Brigade by the Corps Commander at WAILLY WOOD. MAR.
Battalion passed through gas in afternoon. Captain W. Vernon, MC, appointed Adjutant.

15. Battalion in pay parade in afternoon. Baseball game in afternoon with 85th Battalion,
won by 85th Battalion 9 - 7. One other rank reinforcement joined Battalion. Weather fine. MAR.
