forenoon to CLIFF CAMP. Batt. marched out at 1 pm
by Cross Roads to main road ARRAS-St POL, whence
the Bn. proceede by buses to SAVVY arriving about
3.30 pm. Entrained at 7.30 pm with great excite-
ment, as destination was unknown. Secred order
controlling the move. Query was - Are we going North
or South? Are we to attack or merely defend.
Weather - wet! RBO'S

HEUCOURT 3 Batt. detrained at LONGPRE about 4 am & after
extremely light refreshments, marched out at 5.15
am to HEUCOURT - arriving about 8 a. D. Company
was billetted at CROCQUOLSONS. Billets were fairly good
for the men, but a bit lacking for officers. Eggs,
fried chips and beer, were readily obtained & the
men, who had receied their pay, enjoyed them-
selves. All ranks were kept under cover as much
as possible to lessen chances of enemy obtaining
any information about the Canadians being on
the War Path. Mystery! & human nature, loves mystery.
Weather improving. RBO'S
