were in action, near midnight. A few heavy shells
were also dropped during the course of the afternoon
in SOUCHEZ. Hun planes passed over CARENCY
early in the evening.
Our Canadian boys are chuckling among them-
selves at the success of the Gas attack, supported
by our Field Artillery, heavy guns and heavy
trench mortars. It must have been lovely for the
Huns, as, following the signal and without any
warning (5000) five thousand drums of lethal
gas were simultaneously discharged. That the
Huns suffered terribly goes without saying, &
a bit of our old scores was paid off.
Our working parties were very active, and we had
ten different parties out, engaged in all kinds
of work. Weather : very fine. RBO'S
do 22 Seven working parties out doing effective work.
Both sides very active with artillery. Huns shelling
areas far to the rear. Hun Planes over Souchez
& Carency? both in forenoon and afternoon
