AUCHEL P. de C. 1918 Mar 1.
The 38th Battalion out at rest at AUCHEL. Officers and
men obtained fairly comfortable quarters. Several
separate messes were started by the N.C.O.'s as their
billets lent themselves readily to such a purpose.
The personel expense resulting, was very small,
and the N.C.O.'s were only too glad to chip in a
little additional expense money to obtain some
of the comforts of home once more. The Pay-
master gladly granted the request of Company
Commanders that the usual amount of pay on
pay day be slightly increased to cover addition-
al expense.

Under this date was published in Brigade
Orders, the Summary of report on inspection
of Transport carried out by O.C. no. 4. Cvy? 4th
