distributed in fairly comfortable billets tho' at some
distance apart. The locality provided unlimited
means for washing & cleaning up. Small streams
and pools abounding. Of these the men made
ample use in the afternoon, but at night the unwary
were forcibly brought to a realization of the difference
between being wet and dry. In daylight the pools
& rivulets were easily seen, but when darkness fell,
accentuated by large trees keeping guard by the
roadside, care had to be exercised in moving from one
place to another. Among those who fell victims to
a false sense of security was the Adjutant, who in
the course of a hurried visit to the Orderly Room, found
himself standing in two and a half feet of water. In
the first few moments of indecision as to what he
should do, he heard voices approaching from the
