and the Paymaster, obeying instructions to report
at CAESTRE, learned that the Cashier was at
BRANDHOEK. Operation Order 107 issued. RBO'S

do 17 In accordance with Oper. Or. 107. The 38th Batt. moved to
billets in the MERVILLE AREA. Orders were to the effect
that Personnel would move by bus and transport
by road. The Batt. arrived at embussing point in
good time and waited for the busses. The weather was
fair but cold. During the first period of the wait, the
Band enlivened the officers and men by playing
several selections. After the musical treat was con-
cluded, the men voluntarily indulged in physical
training stunts to stimulate circulation. Watches
ticked on and still no buses. The "Red Caps" were
greatly exercised, as a whole Brigade was being
held up on the side of the road. Finally the patience
