and "D" Companies were assigned to the 85th, 78th, and
72nd Can. Inf. Batts, respectively, for consolidaiton pur-
poses. This work has been carried on under heavy
hostile artillery fire, but all objectives gained have
been fully held and all attempts at enemy coun-
ter attacks have been broken up by our artillery
fire. Our "A" Company was used chiefly for ca-
rying parties. During the excessive shelling of
our communications and back areas, our trans-
port Section had a number of casualties to men
and animals tonight in moving up rations and supplies. The Pack train moved first at 6.00 pm
but was unable to get through, making the at-
tempt again at 1.00 a.m. when everything was
entirely successful. In this work, conspicuous
bravery and devotion to duty was shown by the
