In the matter of equipment, all ranks other than Bombers, Lewis Gunners and
Signallers carried 70 rounds of S.A.A., while Specialists carried 120 rounds, each.
Bombers & Mills Grenades, each Rifle Grenadier 1 smoke Grenade, 5 Mills Grenades RFP.
and 5 no. 28 Grenades. Each Lewis Gun Crew was equipped with 35 Magazines. One
Ground Flare per man was issued. 4 S.O.S. Grenades per platoon, 4 Sand bags per man,
100 shovels per Company and 104 Rifle Wire Cutters. Great coats and rubber sheets are
being carried by all ranks. In addition to iron rations, each Officer, N.C.O. and
man carried 48 hours rations.
The Battalion moved forward at 7.30 P.M. with the following Officers:-
