27th The following Communication was received to-day by Lieut. Colonel
C. M. Edwards, D.S.O., Commanding 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion RFP.
from Lieut. General Sir A.W. Currie, Commanding Canadian Corps. dated,
October 24th, 1917 referring to the recent inspection by His Royal Highness,
The Duke of Connaught.

Canadian Corps Headquarters,
24th Oct., 1917

My Dear Edwards:-
I want to write to you, to tell you that I was very much
struck by, and pleased with, the appearance and steadiness on parade
of the 38th Battalion, at the INspection held by the Duke of Connaught the RFP
other morning. If I had been asked to do any judging as to the cleanliest, etc.,
in the 12th Brigade, I would have given first place to your Battalion. This is
very pleasing to me, and I am sure it must be gratifying to you. I
know how hard you have worked lately to get your Battalion in satisfactory
shape, and, I am sure that you are succeeding in your efforts.
