Front Line 1917 Sept 15 cont.
(Bridge) N.25.c.45.60. Enemy sniping was more active
than any previous day of present tour. One of our Scouts
was killed at post in obstacle at N.23.a.20.55. by an
enemy sniper from N.33.a.5.8. Several hostile
machines were over AVION during the day.
Works and movement:-- Six of the enemy were seen at
N.27.c.6.4. An officer and three men were seen obser-
ving on Railway at N.33.a.6.5. There was much
movement in CITE DU NORD around points at N.21.d
3.8., N.21.c.9.6., N.27.a.7.7. to N.27.a.9.5.
A Patrol consisting of No 144051. Pte. L. Beaulieu and no.
261146 Pte. E. Joinas left front line in AVION at N.32.b.
98.50 proceeded along road to N.33.a.23.65. They then
reconnoitred enemy obstacle on both sides of road.
There is a well beaten path from a small gap in
enemy wire on north side of road at N.33.a.35.75.
paralleling N.W. side of road to N.33.a.17.57. junction
of road leading to RED CHATEAU and Toronto ROAD.
There is an enemy night post here. Two new hand?
bombs and an enemy guard's soft cap were in this
post. The ground was soaked with blood behind
