Front Line 1917 Sep 15 cont.
Machine Gun was located at N.27.c.45.60. at junction
of SALAAM Trench and Railway St. Trench Mortar at
N.27.a.72.03. The Scouts returned to our lines at
11.00 pm and these targets were given to the I.O.
Both Machine Gun and Trench Mortar ceased fire
shortly after our artillery opened up. We had
the usual protective patrols out, but these had
nothing unusual to report.
Operation Order no 98 issued. Extracts:--
The 38th Can. Inf. Batt. will be relieved in the Front
Line tonight September 15th/16th by the 72nd Can. Inf. Batt.
and after relief will be in support occupying ac-
commodation at present occupied by the 72nd Batt.
O.C.'s Companies will send one officer to reconoitre
their position after relief and sufficient guides to
take in their Platoons. Completion of relief
to be reported by code word "WEBB."
INTELLIGENCE SUMMARY. from 9.00 pm Sep. 14th to 9.00 pm
Sep. 15th.
There was little activity on the part of our Artillery.
GREEN CRASSIER was heavily shelled for one hour at
