fire throughout the day. Field artillery fired on GREEN
CRASSIER and ALPACA trench. About twenty two r?ch
trench mortars and fifty stokes shells were directed
to area of RED CHATEAU and SALINE Trench. There was
intensive indirect fire in the night from our Machine
Guns, while Lewis guns fired on suspected enemy
posts. Heavy Lewis gun fire was directed on hostile
aeroplanes. No 788808. Private B. Venadde, sniping
from obstacle at Toronto Rod, made a hit at N.33.
a.5.4. Our aircraaft were active during the day,
our machines flying well beyond enemy front line

system. All our aeroplanes were heavily shelled by
enemy anti-aircraft guns and machine guns
from houses in CITE DU NORD. Firing of hostile
anti-aircraft batteries was unusualy accurate.
Enemy artillery activity was considerably below
normal with the exception of having fire on our

artillery has been more quiet during the period than
