night our left Company devoted special attention to
ANTELOPE trench and vicinity of N.20.d.3.5. One hundred
rifle renades were fired during the night along enemy
line in N.33.a.75.30 and from N.33.a.55.35.70
and N.33.a.25.35. as well as orchard at Chateau.
Several hits were observed to have been made by our snipers
on the enemy in the vicinity of GREEN CRASSIER and AN-
TELOPE Trench. Considerble sniping fire was also di-
rected at verious targets at RED CHATEAU area. There
was the usual patrolling and obsering by our aircraft
during the day. It was noticeable that our machines
were not fired on by machine guns or anti-aircraft
guns to any extent.
Enemy artillery have been very active throughout the above
period. AVION was subjected, during the night to the
heaviest bombardment since being occupied by our troops.
This hostile fire was intence from 9.30 to 1040 pm with
heavy shelling at intervals from the latter hour until
2 a.m. The enemy was again active on AVION sector from
4.15 am to 5.30 am and during the day there has been
scattered shelling in AVION. The area of ELEU TRENCH was
also heavily shelled between 9.30 and 10.30 pm. Hostile
artillery has been less active than usual on back areas.
