operation and have been particularly active all day,
numberous targets being offered for effective firing during
the enemy counter attacks on the GREEN CRASSIER posi-
tion. Heavy losses were effected on the enemy by
this fire. Active sniping fire was directed on
enemy throughout the day, as numerous targets pre-
sented themselves during the GREEN CRASSIER attacks.
Several known casualties eing observed in the vicinity
of the GREEN CRASSIER. Our aircraft were very active
during the early morning and forenoon. One of our
machines drove down an enemy aeroplane near the
GREEN CRASSIER at 6.00 am.
Enemy artillery were active up to noon on ELEU trench
SASKATOON Road and COLUMBIA C.T. Hostile artillery
fire on the AVION sector was much below normal except
for a short bombardment of SULLIVAN TRENCH and new
front lines at dawn. This area is subjected to similar
fire each morning around 4.30. During the day, there
was scattered fire from their artillery on our back
areas, but much more limited in extent than the
