Brigade Orders, under date of August 19th by Brig. Gen
J. H. MacBrien D.S.O. commanding 12th Can. Inf. Bde. con-
tain the following awards & appointments for members
of the 38th Batt.

Front Line 21.
Batt. in Front Line as per Oper. Order 93.
Our artillery was continuously active throughout the
night and today, co-operating with operations of
Brigade on left. The areas of the GREEN CASSIER CITE
St. ANTOINE and LENS were particularly heavily bom-
barded. Much destruction resulted from this activity
while observation showed the barrage at 4.35 am to
early this morning on SALINE TRENCH, FOSSE 4 & N. 33.c.5.7
Our Machine Guns were active, Brigade Machine Guns
and Lewis Guns of our left Company firing on selected
targets in ANTELOPE and SLACK to assist in operations
on left, also SLADE trenches and CITE DU NORD.
