SALINE TRENCHES, trench junction at N.33.d.58.43, Railway
Tunnel at N.27.c.85.15; Trench in rear of Railway Embankment
from N.33.b.50.18. to N.33.b.10.67, nest of trenches around
N.33.d.80.12, Trench in rear of Railway Embankment in the
vicinity of the Cemetery in N.33.b., Trenches in the vicinity
of N.33.d.5.5. trenches in N.27.d. and N.33.b. At noon, area
of N.33.a.9.3. was heavily shelled. Our Trench Mortars
fired on vicinity o RED CHATEAU and hostile working
party during the night. Our Machine Guns placed a
heay fire on enemy lines of communication throughout
the night, as well as at hostile aircraft during the day.
Lewis guns carried on bursts of fire on enemy front
lines and working party. Our aeroplanes were ver ac-
tive all day, many crossing over enemy lines.

Enemy heavy artillery has been exceedingly active on our
back areas, from RED LINE towards the rear. in the vicinity
