Front Line 1917 Aug 11 cont.
9.30 and 10 pm. Enemy machine gunfire was nor-
mal. Several enemy planes crossed our lines at in-
tervals during the day. The following works and
movements of the enemy were observed. At 9 pm four
of the enemy were observed walking along railway em-
bankment at N.27.d.9.7. At 9 pm a working party
of 40 or 50 men were observed going west along rail-
way embankment at N.28.c.6.5. A party of about this
same strength was observed repairing wire from N.33.
a.3.6. to N.22.a.4.5. between the hours of 10.30 pm 12
midnight. From 5 to 6 am. The Enemy "stood to"
at N.33.a.5.5., about ten men in thirty yards of
shallow trench. At 6.20 am Relief party of about fifty
strong came from N.27.d.8.8. They proceeded along
Railway and entered trench at N.33.a.6.5. At 11.05
am on eof the enemy was observed at N.33.a.4.6. watching
