Summary of Intelligence 9 pm Aug 9th to 9 pm Aug. 10. 1917.
Our Artillery was active throughout the period. At 2.30
am barrage was placed along railway embankment
from N.33.a.9.9. to N.35.b.7.1. in conjunction with pro-
jection of gas. This afternoon enemy positions in
rear of railway embankment from N.33.b.70.01. to N.33.
a.90.95. were engaged by heavy guns. Wire cutting oper-
ations were also carried out in the area of AVION
CHATEAU. LENS was bombarded at intervals, at
5 am our Trench Mortars directed about fifty (50) bombs
to N.33.a.5.8. Bursts of Lewis Machine Gun fire were
