enspected strong points. Near the junction of our Front
and COLUMBIA C.T. about (20) twenty artillery shells
fell behind our Front Line between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm
today. Early this morning our Stokes Guns directed
considerable fire on suspected Trench Morter emplacements
in vicinity of Fosee 5 and railway embankment.
Brigade Machine Guns carried on the usual indirect fire
on enemy back areas during th enight, while Lewis Guns
engaged various targets where movement had been noted
previously. Very few targets for sniping were offered.
Some of our rifle fire was directed to areas which were
reported to be centres of enemy activity. there was no
aircraft activity by our men.
Enemy Artillery were very active during the night. At
10.00 pm 2.00 am and 3.30 am, hostile bombardment
approached the severity of a light barrage and was placed
