Front Line 1917 Aug. 1. Batt. in Front Line as per Operation Order no 88 of July 29th
Transport Lines at Hospital Corner, beyond Carency.

Colonel Edwards, D.S.O. went on duty in connection with
artillery convention. Mayor R.F. Parkinson assuming
command. Summary of Intelligence from 9 pm
July 31st to 9 pm Aug 1, 1917

Throughout the above period, our Artillery particularly
the heavies, have been active. There was a bombardment
on avion towards the Southern boundary at 7.30 tonight, to
which there was no enemy retaliation. Hostile areas es-
pecially dealt with were N.20.c.8.8. N.27.a.9.9. N.20.b.9.1.
and from N.27.b.2.5. to N.21.c.3.0. Bursts of our Lewis
gun ire were carried on during the night, while Brigade
Machine guns covered enemy communications & roads.
Very few targets for snipers were offered during the day
but considerable rifle fire was directed on enemy
