Front Line 1917 July 1
Operation Order no 86 issued. Extracts
The 38th Can. Inf. Batt. will be relieved tonight July 1st
& will proceed to Nissen Huts at Villers au Bois.
The platoons in the Coulotte Support and in Red Line
Trenches and in the Gun PIts at S.18.a, and S.11.c
may be withdrawn at 9.30 pm without waiting for
anyone to relieve them. The platoons in COULOTTE, and
Red Line will proceed via CYRIL. The platoons in
PARTRIDGE TRENCH will be withdrawn after arrival of
two Support Compnaies of the P.P.C.L.I. at PARTRIDGE TRENCH
about 10.45 pm. It will be necessary for these Platoons
to move our via CLARKE and CYRIL as the P.P.C.L.I. move
in from the left.

Summary of Intelligence
6 pm July 1st
From 4.20 pm to 5.20 pm last evening, our artillery
shelled the area from N.27.b. to N.28.a. and from 10.15
pm to 12 midnight, shelled approximately N.27. Central
and N.28.a. using considerable High Explosive shells
and shrapnel in both places. From 12 midnight to
1.45 am the usual activity was directed at N.27.b.
and N.27.d. At 12 noon today, three salvos from
