Draught. The C.O. Colonel Edwards, D.S.O. made a special trip
out to witness the competition. The 38th took first place in
"Best kitchen turned out" and 2nd place in Infantry Trans-
port of the Division.

Our Artillery was active throughout the preceding night and in-
termittent shelling on Enemy's areas during the day.
A Hun was killed by one of our snipers at noon today. There
were continuous aeroplane patrols by our men on our frontage
throught the forenoon. Hostile artillery activity has
been below normal in the past 24 hours. During the night there
was occasional shelling of our front line by H. E. resulting in
five casualties. Granattenwerfer bombs were fired but
caused no damage. Snipers were active & two of our men were
killed at Company H.Q. N.36.d.5.8. Only one of their air-
craft endeavoured to cross our line & was driven back.
