Berthonval Wood 1917 June 12 cont planes very active over our lines in forenoon. engaged by
our aeroplanes and A.A.'s. Draft joined the Batt. after
being billeted in [Careney?] for the preceding night. Batt. proceeded
to Front Line as per Oper. Order 81. RBO's

Front Line 13 Batt. in Front Line. Transport Lines represented in Brigade
competitions by "Big Nigger" winning first place & qualifying
for Corps Competition. About dusk, Observation balloon near
Lines suffered from a blow out and the observer had a tough
fifteen minutes experience
Our Artillery was active last evening between 6 & 7 o'clock
& from 9.00 p.m. our light & heavy guns retaliated
Between 4.45 & 5.30 a.m. this morning high explosive shells
were used against the enemy, & their front & support lines
were bombarded continuously during the afternoon by both
our field & heavy batteries. Intermittent bursts of Lewis
gun fire was carried on, while Brigade machine guns
