being made on our Front Line at s. 6. b. 33. and T.1.c.
30. 60. There French Mortar Shells were fired, we believe,
from the emplacement referred to and we would ask for
the attention of the Artillery on same.

In retaliation for the barrage on our Left Brigade last night
the enemy put on an almost perfect Machine Gun barrage
on our front. Machine guns in great numbers swept our
front from the direction of the chalk embankment and
from in rear of LA COLLETTE.

The 38th Can. Inf. Batt. will be relieved by the 72nd Can. Inf. Batt.
in the left subsector tonight May 6. Each O.C. Company
will detail four guides to be at these Batt. Headquarters at
10 pm to guide their relieving Companies into the line. "B" Co.
72nd will relieve "A" Co 38th. "A" Co 72nd will relieve "D" Co. 38th
