today, two enemy planes attempted to cross our line but
were driven back by A. A. guns. A few sentries have been
observed on observation duty in enemy lines, but no move-
ment of any account.
Our Atillery were intermittently active throughout the
night on Avion, La COLLETTE, and counter battery work.
During the day our artillery has not been active on our
particular front. On account of numerous working
parties our Machine Gun fire was restricted during the
night, but both Lewis Guns and riflemen have directed
cousiderable fire on suspected enemy posts during the day.
The activity of our aircraft was below normal probably
due to unfavourable observation conditions. During
the day some fires have been noticed in the out-skirts
of LENS and AVION.
