(6) TOOLS. Every other man will carry forward a tool
proportion 48 shovels to 1 pick - these must be slipped through
the equipment on the back - firmly. Platoon Commanders and H. C. O.'s
are responsible for this.

Tools will be issued after formation in Assembly
Trench.

(7) CONTACT WORK WITH AEROPLANES. - 4th Division
Contact patrol Aeroplanes will be marked - two black bands under
right hand bottom plane - three streamers, one from each interplane
strut and one from rudder.

One ground flare per man, if possible, will be carried,
The men in most advanced line only will light their flares.

At ZERO plus . . when a plane calls by Klaxon
Horn or dropping a Very Light, every third man in the most forward
line will light his flare. This will probably be repeated
several times.

(8) SPECIALISTS. One third of all specialists to be
left out. - These to be accomodated at Chateaua de la Haie.

(9) TIME. Each Unit will send a watch to Battln. H. Q.
at 9 p.m. and again at 11 p.m. on "Y" day to be synchronised.

(10) REPORTS. Frequent reports must be sent in to
Bttln. H. Q. giving all particulars of importance, and as soon as
an objective is taken a marked sketch map (issued) should be sent
in showing exact location.

13. EQUIPMENT - Steel helmets, Web equipment, haversacks on
back, water bottles filled (there must be examined by Platoon
Commanders to be sure they are full at ZERO) entrenching tool,
waterproof sheet, tube helmet, box respirator and field dressing,
rifle and bayonet. Box respirator worn in Alert position.
Leather jerkins will be worn. Great coats will not be worn and
will be left in BLUE BULL TUNNEL in charge O. C. Tunnel, Lieut.
T. H. Warren.

In addition to the above, each man will carry:-

Riflemen - 12C rounds S. A. A., one extra bandolier S. A. A.,
four (4) Mills ' Bombs, one ground flare, one 1" Very Light
catridge, one sandbag (hung through belt).

Rifle Grenadiers - 120 rounds S. A. A., 10 No. 23 rifle
granades and 5 eleven inch rods, one sandbag (in belt), one ground
flare, 1 Very Light Cartridge.

Bombers - Carriers. 50 rounds S. A. A., 12 No 5 Mills' Hand
Grenades, 1 ground flare, 1 Very Light catridge, 1 sandbag
(through belt).
- Throwers. 50 rounds S.A.A., 6 No. 5 Mills'
Hand Grenades, 1 ground flare, 1 Very Light cartridge, 1 sandbag
(in belt).

Lewis Gunners (except No. 1) 50 rounds S. A. A., 4 Mills'/Hand
Grenades, Gun magazines, one sandbag (in belt).

N. C. O.'s who carry rifles, 50 rounds S. A. A.

Unused bombs and extra S. A. A. should be collected at
objective, and placed in Reserve Dump.

Each carrier of a Very Light Pistol to carry six (6) one inch
Very Light cartridges.

S. O. S. rockets - two sets per Platoon.

14. PRISONERS.- Prisoners must at once be sent back to
Battln. Headquarters under guard of slightly Wounded men. They
should be made to carry stretchers, if necessary. Men must not
on any account gather around prisoners, or take souveniers from
them.
