Batt. at Coupigny. Men beginning to show benefit of rest
after long bout at the Front Lines. Fritz very active in
a hate? strafe in vicinity of Transport. He paid parti-
cular attention to the neighbouring town of Noeux
les Mines, especially in the evening, when the place
was twice set on fire, the second fire being quite con-
siderable. There were casualties reported among the civil
population. Hersin also received attention. RBO'S

Coupigny 22 Batt. at Coupigny. Fine weather. Vicinity of Transport
Lines shelled. RBO'S

Coupigny 23 Batt. at Coupigny. Operation Order no 67 issued. Major
Parkinson in Command of Battalion vice Lt. Colonel
Sparling, formerly of 73rd who has been acting for a
few days--

1. The Battalion will go into the line tomorrow April 24th
moving by Companies from the present billets at 8.30 am
at 5 minute intervals, in the following order. Head-
quarters, "A", "B", "C" and "D" Companies.
