L. Jewett Chr Acting Com."
The Committee to whom the foregoing Report was reffered
reported thereon as follows:-
"The Committee to whom was referred Mr Jewett's Report
on property etc. have had the same under consideration
and beg leave to state- That in their opinion the system
of keeping exact amounts of the different descriptions of property
belonging to the University- thus commenced- is very important
and should be carried out systematically and accurately in
the future. The Committee are not able (from the limited
time allowed them,) to pass an opinion upon the valuation
of Books and other personal property. They have no reason
to doubt the general correctness of the valuation. It appears
to them that the valuation of the Campus and Buildings
is too high, and they would reduce the valuation of the
same from $80,000,00 to $40,000,00. The valuation of other lands &
property seems to be correct, being the amount on which Rent is assessed.
