the books of the University.
The proffessors and Students have
enjoyed uninterrupted good health
and all the departments of the
University have been continuously and
efficiently carried on.
The income from the Rent of Rooms
and contingent fees during the year
has been about $635. Twenty Six certificates
of scholarship have been sold by
the Committee, and $30= have been
received for Tuition at $5. per Term, the
amount arising from the sums
just named is about $1050.
The Library has during the
year received several volumes of Books,
from Hon. V.B. Horton one worthy member
of Congress, out of the one Hundred
Dollars appropriated by the Board,
for buying books for the Library, $62.64 has
been expended for that purpose
I would ask the Board that they
continue to make a small appropriation
for the Library, and in enlarging the
room in which it is contained.
I herewith submit an account
of the contingent expenses incurred
by me during the year Ending
June 23 1858.
Iterms amounting to $152 08
I have received thirty five Dollars for
Diplomas which has been paid over
to the Treasurer, and receipt taken thereupon,
of the one hundred Dollars set apart
by the Board to hire additional assistence
in the preparitory department fifty
dollars has been expended for
this purpose
