Annual Meeting of the Board, August 4th 1857
Tuesday Morning August 4th A.D. 1857, The Board
met persuant to notice, present [insert]Doc Howard[end insert], Mr Aikin, W.T.
Hand, A.G. Brown, J.M. Dana, John E. Hanna
G.W. Woodbridge, L. Jewett, A.B. Pruden [insert]Keith[end insert] and H. Wilson
On request the Secretary read the proceedings of
the last meeting of the Board
President Howard read his annual
report of the condition of the institution for the
past year, and his Expenditures of the funds
placed in his hands, which on motion was
refered to a committee consisting of Messrs
Hand, Aikin and Pruden.
The President on motion appointed
a Committee of three on degrees, consisting of J.H.
Keith, A.G. Brown, and G.W. Woodbridge-
The committee appointed at the last meeting of
the Board, to change the time for the close of the college
year made their report that they had made the changes
and put down in the Catalogues, for this year. Which report
was received and adopted and the changes made by said
committee agreed to-
The Committee on Sale of Schollarships made
their report which was received and ordered to be
recorded and on motion the same committee Mr
Jewett and Dana were continued for another year
with the same powers and duties-
The committee on Examinations by their Chairman
W.T. Hand made their report: That in the discharge of their
duties, they have been highly gratified with the proficiency
and Steady advancement of the young men in all the
departments of Literature, under the Supervision of the
faculty of the Institution. That in order to give the
Board a full and complete report, they had attended
the private recitations of the Senior Class, in addition
