Annual Meeting Wednesday August 1st 1855.
The Board met this morning pursuant to adjournment present as
upon yesterday with the addition of the Rev Amos Miler-
The committee appointed to report on the report of the Comitee
of finance make report and say that they were highly gratified
with the financial condition of the university showing
a decrease in its indebtedness from about 17000$ to
about 6000$. [Illegible, crossed out]
which report was received and adopted, and
on recommendation of said committee 100$ was appropriated
and to be placed in the hands of the presient, and paid out
by him for services in the preparatory department-
On the Motion of Mr Prudent the following resolutions
were adopted to wit:
Resolved 1st That in order to increase the funds of the
University, the Acting Comittee be and are hereby authorised
to issue three hundred certificates, of Perpetual Scholarships,
and that the price of a Scholorship be one hundred dollars, the
of sales to consitutue an [?iniducible] fund for the benefit
of the Ohio University-
2nd Resolved- That as a means of still further increasing said
[?iniducible] fund, circulars be issued, by the President, and
Secretary and forwarded to such persons as would be likely to
suscribe to a fund of that kind, asking their assistance in the
way of donations.
On Motion the Board then adjourned till 2 O clock P.M.
Afternoon Session
The Board Met afreeable to adjournment, present as in
the forenoon-
The Committee before appointed to wait upon Messrs Leavett,
Young, and Pratt and advise them of their Election as
members of the faculty, made their report: that Mr Leavett
and Mr Young accepted their appointment and
that the Rev Jn H. Pratt declined acceptance, which report
was received and adopted.
The Committee on Examinations made their report and say that
a large portion of their number have attended the Examinations
at the End of Each Term and are highly gratified with
the Examinations, and that they reflected honor on the
Teachers and pupils- The Committee recommend to the Board
