CXXII being duplicated. 7a: 451, headline + foliation,
237(244, 245)x145mm.
Types: 105 G text; 81 G (mixed with sorts from 63 G) marginalia,
table on 4a + 4b; 105 R (capitals only) foliation.
Marginalia. Woodcuts. Capitals (2.3, Lombards) + borders
(2a, 3a).
2 large cuts + 56 cuts 116 repeats (65 3 x 72 0 mm) of famous women making
172 by repetition ... but 7 cuts fo Italian ladies at the end
of the book ... are not repeated, + ... have such strongly
marked characteristics that they are probably copies of

Laurentius de Rubies completed an Avenoes, Colliget on 5 Oct.
1482 + then is not heard from aagain as printer until Dec.
1489. He died im 1522, but appears to have ceased
printing in 1499.

The work recounts the lives of women famous in history +
mythology, each accompanied by a woodcut portrait. This is
one of the great monuments of Italian Renaissance wood engraving.
