The well-known encyclopedia of knowledge written primarily for
the use of students, by the Carthusian prior G. Reisch, a learned
monk, who taught theology at the Univ. of Freiburg (Breisgam)
+ who was for many years Maximilian I's confessor. He
administered the extreme unction to the dying emperor in 1519.
the Margerita Philosophica is a picture book of the 1st order,
one of the earliest works on all sciences + a bookwhich enjoyed
greatest popularity since its 1st appearance in print in 1503.
It contains all the subject matter of the typical school course
of the period, a great deal of its text in the usual Magister-
Discipulus dialogue, with the information broken down into
who was to specific questions.
"Aepitoma omnis phlosophiae alias Margarita Phylosophica....."

contains the following 12-wind head mat at the end. The woodcuts
which are important works by unknown Strassburg artists
represent many interestinc scenes in the field of Medicine,
Mining, Astronomy, Hunting, Fishing etc. The book further
