Popular world chronicle - a compilation from various authors - it reveals more clearly than any toher
1983- L 6000 work the status of knowlege or the notions of history + chronology at
this time in Germany, in the Law Countries + in France. THe
author, a Carthusian (1447) monks fo Cologne, used as a model Marianus
Scotus, the 11th C chronicler, + divided the material into 6 eros.
Each of the many ed. was brought up to date as it came out
This 1st Dutch ed is also of typographical interest as it shows
small views of many European towns.

text, folio 1+9 within hand coloured woodcut border, 35 hand coloured
woodcuts, including repeats, numerous hand coloured diagrams +
(249) coats of arms, woodcut device at end.

Rolewinck, a thologian + historian 1st issued this incunabula
"best seller" in 1473; it was translated into Dutch, French +
German + appeared in at least 30 ed. before 1501.

early history to tae, from Creation to 1474, the date of 1st
publication. Reference to printing under date 1457.

ed. of this work The cuts are probably the work of the printer
himself, J. Veldener, who has also enlarged this ed. by the
addional chronicles for France, England, Brabant etc.
The usual work endos on leaf 193 and Nearly 1/2 of the book is "supplement", not covered by the
other ed, + appearing here for the 1st time.
