41, 42/43, 1543, 1544/5, 1546, 1546/7
Not only were there numerous Witternberg ed. of the whole Bible,
but also of the various parts of it. Meanwhile in other
cities there apeared many ed. both of the whole Bible
+ of its separate parts. Luther's version formed the basis
largely for versions in Dutch, Icelandic, Swedish + Danish,
and to some extent also for the English version by Tyndale
+ that by Coverdale.
Luther's version of the N. T. executed in 11 wks. at Wartburg
was published in 1522 5000 copies + his first complete Bible in 1534.
Throughout his life Luther was busy revising his translation.
He was helped by his friends P. Melanchthon + M.
Aurogallus who advised him on Greek + Latin philology.
1541 -at this time Luther was the "best seller" of the 16th C.
-It was Luther who destroyed Low German as a real language
-For the Old Testament Luther used the Hebrew Bible printed.
at Brescia in 1494 + for the New Testament the 2nd ed. of
the Greek text of Erasmus 1519.

Hans Lufft [inserted] eventually became burgomaster of Wittenberg [end inserted] Viet Creutzer.
born about 1495 most probably in Brandenburg. 1525 set up a
press on his own account, + issued Luther's German Psalter in the
low Saxon dialect. From this time on he continued to print
for Luther. In 1534 appeared the 1st complete Bible with Lufft's
name on the title page; and as Luther continued to revise
his translation, so Lufft continued to print fresh editions. In all
he printed at least 10 editions before Luthers death in 1546 +
