CCCXLIX (349) leaves for Prophets, Apocrypha + the New T. with
2 large woodcuts title borders + many at times whole page woodcuts
after L. Cranach or from his studio, at well as large + small
woodcut initials.
The beautiful woodcut decoration which was inspired by Luther
in that of the 1st complete Bible of 1534. Some woodcuts are signed MS
It is the next to the last complete Bible that appeared during Luther's life.

Luther's German New Testament appeared in 1522, + by 1533 som
85 editions of it had been published. By 1546, 430 whole or partial
editions of Luther's version of the bible had been put into
circulation. In the city of Wittenberg 60 or more editions of the
German Bible, averaging 2000 copies each, were printed between
1546 + 1600; one printer alone, Hans Lufft, is said to have
produced + sold almost 100,000 copies between 1534 + 1574.
Darlow + Moule -1541 Bible - 1st to contain Luther's "Warning wieder den Geiz", (1545)
complaining of the incorrect pirated editions of the Bible.
1545 - the last ed. revised by the translator himself.
After 1555 the words "aufs new zugericht" dissappear from
the title of Luther's Bible + Rorer's note at the end of the
volume is also omitted.
