John Gerson (Jean Le Charlie) born at Gerson near Reims.
The most importatn mystical thologian of the Period, chancellor of
the Univ. of Paris, who frequently on account fo his principles
is considered a precursor of the Protestant Reformation .
A follower of William Ockham. (a skeptic - argued that God's existence fould not be piouch) Especially rembered
for his part in healing the Great Schism which beganin
1378. At the counsil of Pisa, Gerson's radical point of view on
the supremacy of a grand council over the pope came unto
great priminence, but it was at the Council of Constance
(1414) that his ideas were really put into action.
