Bound in hald holland, to paper labels
500 copies, all on paper. The colophon is dated Sept 12. [inserted] finished on [end inserted] 1892
A trial page was set up in March 1891. Compisition
began as soon as The Glittering Plain was finished, in
April, + 50 pages were in Type by May 11, when the
1st sheet was printed. A few impressions of the 2 woodcuts
after the drawings by Bmne-Jones were pulled on veullum.

R. Cave /- his imprinting of the type ino the dampened paper
embossing of the back of the page, an widence that the
other side of the page we are reading is also printed upon
Updike - Morris made books that it was a pleasure to look at
but he did not make books that it was a pleasure
to read.
The woodcut title is the 1st one designed by W. Morris.
Golden Legend (Caxton) 1482 - contains a fairly literal translation into
English of nearly the whole of the Pentatench + a greater part of the
Gospels, mixed up to a good deal of medieval gloss, under the
guise of the lives of Adam, Abraham, Moses, the Apostles + others.
