1913-1914.

On Endowments, during the past year, there was received
$162,415.37. This included $100,000 received
from Mr. Carnegie, $26,000 from Dr. Douglas, and
$20,000 from the Hon. Justice Maclennan. New
Endowments, $500,000.00.

The University had paid over to the Theological
College $200,000 Endowment; interest on Endowment
$8,129.66; Theological College Trust Funds
$26,027.88; interest on Trust Funds, $1,413.41;
making a total of $235,570.95.

The financial standing of the University, after paying
over the above sum to the Theological College, was as
follows: Total invested moneys, $686,214.00; Liabilities,
$25,931.00; Gross Endowment, $660,283.00;
Scholarship and Trust Funds, $50,708.00; leaving a
net Endowment of $609,575.00.

On these money bases the two institutions began
their independent careers.

Word was just received, which again showed how
good a friend of Queen's was the late John Charlton.
In addition to the $50,000.00 given to found the
John and Ella G. Charlton Chair in Philosophy, the
University was a beneficiary under his will to the
amount of $50,000.00. Of this, due and appreciative
acknowledgment was made to the administrators
