At the April meeting of the Board (1903) the usual draft
report to the General Assembly was presented and
discussed, and, after some slight changes, adopted.
The report on "Grant Hall" was received with much
satisfaction. Already $35,000 had been subscribed
toward it, of which $13,000 had been paid. And the
corner stone had been well and truly laid, At the
October meeting the Trustees would expect the
Building Committee to have ready, for examination,
the plans and specifications, and the tenders for the
different branches of work required.

The matter of building a basement under the Hall, to
be used as a Dining Room, was brought up: but after
the scheme was considered further, it was found to be
impracticable, and therefore abandoned, Dr. Knight,
finding his work hampered for lack of suitable
quarters, the old Museum was voted for Animal Biology,
and $300 granted to put it in a suitable condition
for the requirements. It was also decided to take steps
to provide a suitable office room for the Principal.
The past session was a heavy drain on revenue in many
ways. Expansion needed to be provided for, and emergent
obligations, which could not have been anticipated,
