Ladies and Gentlemen
For eight abbrieviated hours, I am to endeavor to occupy your attention with what is now known concerning right reasoning and wrong.
The most of this matter has been discovered by the last two of the seventy generations that have held the world's stage and have inceasingly endeavored to improve logic since Aristotle first gave that subject a scientific form, although an important contribution was incompletely developed during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Not a single word of all this is to be found in the ordinary text-books, which are far worse than useless.

My great aim will be to do as many of you as will bestow upon the matter the necessary close attention some real service.
