If this be understood de inesse then in any universe in which there were no oranges with red pulp, it would be true regardless of what might be the last perfection of style.
For the prequsition asserts nothing at all about the case of there being no oranges with red pulp; and consequently it asserts nothing false.
Hence, it is true.
So likewise in any universe of the characeter of the oranges.
The only sort of universe in which it would be false would be one in which there were oranges with red pulp but in which naturalness was not the last perfection of style.
It is obvious that in the ordinary use of language there can hardly be any occasion for this form od propos-
