we were off Cape Henlopen, which did
not appear to be more than a mile away
and that, they were tacking ship every
ten or fifteen minutes and shortening
sail, waiting for the tug which was
inside the Breakwater and which present-
ly steamed up and came out and took
us in tow. Just before the tug came up
there was a terrific fight between the
Boatswain and one of the sailors in
which the former received a pretty black
eye, after which they were seperated by
the Captain. It happened at just a very
critical time for the ship for she was
running directly on to the white sands
of Cape Henlopen and if the Captain
had not succeeded in stopping the
fight which seemed about to become
general among the sailors and officers
it the ship would certainly have
struck. However with the aid of
the passengers the ship was put about
and thus the danger which seemed so
imminent was obviated. This morning
