doubts we may have had upon the
subject were dispelled by the bright
light which now appeared and which
we understood was Atlantic City Light.
The ship which was running dead
on to this shore was now put about
and when night had closed in we
were running again out to sea, with
two lights in sight to leeward. While
in the act of putting about we
took on our pilot, a stout fat little
man; who was accompanied by a
young man who I believe is his
son. We stayed on deck till
pretty late discussing the now
probable early termination of our long
and tedious voyage.

This morning the wind was not
so strong and by ten oclock had
died completely away, thus casting once more
a feeling of dispondency over the
