sunset and a display of Aurora Borealis
four ships in sight.

Thursday Aug. 22

A lovely day, but very nearly a calm;
two or three ships in sight all day. This
evening the Captain put two men in irons
for fighting, as that sort of amusement is
becoming too commmon among the passengers
below.

Friday Aug. 23

A fine day and a fair wind. The ship is
now heading directly for the Delaware which
we expect to reach by Sunday.

Saturday Aug. 24

A tolerable fine day. The wind which was
fair early this morning gradually shifted
and as evening closed in was almost
dead ahead with thick fog. We
are supposed to be near Nantucket.

Sunday Aug. 25

A very fine day. Smart breeze part of
the day but not fair; dead calm at
night. This afternoon the Pilot boat
