About one o'clock the wind sprang up quite
brisk, and not feeling at all well I went
to bed where I stopped all day.

Thursday Aug. 15

Had a very restless night and not very
well all morning. The wind, which was fair
all day died completely away this evening
leaving us becalmed about 800 miles from
Philadelphia.

Friday Aug. 16

A dead calm nearly all day, two vessels
in sight, which disappeared towards evening.

Saturday Aug. 17

A strong southwest wind. We are now in
soundings sixty fathoms, and at twelve noon
we were 39 miles from Sable Island. Squally
and foggy all day.

Sunday Aug 18

A very foggy day. The fog horn was kept
continually going this morning.
About noon we were signalled by a
