heavy seas were continually being shipped
some of which came against our little
house with so fearful violence that I was
apprehensive of its being washed away.
Some little damage was done such as
carrying away the [spout?], the reel and
splitting some of the sails but we
bore safely through it and this
morning we are sailing gently along
with a tolerable wind.

Sunday Aug. 11

Last night we had a dance in the
steerage. The weather today has been so
warm and pleasant that I think we
have got into quite a different climate.
We have had almost a perfect calm
all day, as the evening was so fine
and the moon so beautiful we stopped
on deck till ten o'clock.

Monday Aug. 12

The calm last evening was succeeded by
a strong fair wind, which is pushing us
along bravely. I have been very sick
all day. The provisions were served out
